  Notes	MRS. CATHERIN E CARNEY. Died Thursday and Buried in Carney Hollow Cemetery Sunday Mrs. Catherine Carney, wife of Jesse Carney of Carney Hollow in the town of Springwater, died at her home last Thursday morning at the age of 73 years and a few months. She was born in town of Sparta, on the farm now owned by James A. Shafer, December 29, 1837, her father who was Conrad Hamsher who married Judith Hughes, then owning the place. Fifty years ago she married Jesse Carney, an enterprising farmer, and they had always lived in the near vicinity. Her death was the first in the family in half a century. Some few years ago she had a severe stroke of paralysis which left her in a precarious condition, but from it she partially recovered, only to be stricken again and again. She was a noble woman, cheerful in disposition, and a helpmeet to her husband who must feel sorely distressed by his bereavement. She is survived by her husband and two sons and two daughters. Bert and Floyd Carney and Mrs. John E. Rowe of Carney Hollow, and Mrs. Harry Hall of Him rods, besides two sisters Mrs. Julia Zerfass of Sparta and Mrs. John Sample of Ossian. The funeral was held at the house on Sunday and it was attended by many friends, the Rev. Rider of the Evangelical church at Wayland officiating, and she was buried in the Carney Hollow Cemetery.
