of the first settlers of the town; he was rated 6th in the number of
acres granted to him in 1644. The same year he was choosen Selectman
and Deacon of the church. After the death of his wife, he married
second to Mercie Hurd in 1655. the following year hius name heads a
petition for a grant of land eight miles square, for a Plantation, now
the town of Marlborough,MA, living on the "Great Road" on the north
side of the Pond. Edmund was frequently appointed by the General
Court to locate grants of land and appears conspicuous in the
transaction of his time. He died in 1663 and is buried in Sudbury,MA.
