    Notes
    • Ken graduated from Faith Christian Academy(Orange Co.,VA) in 1984. Since then he has attended Central Virginia Community College and Liberty University, where he studied Criminal Justice and Administration of Justice. From 1988 to 1992, Ken served in the United States Coast Guard in the Caibbean Sea. He is presently employed as a carpenter and customs protecton officer and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician(1996).

    • Ken Delano, 54, of Ashland passed away on April 19, 2021 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Grayson Delano. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Burdett Delano, his mother, Nellie Delano, his siblings Mary Stem (Lee), Joy Baskin (Bryan), Jeanne Pribble (Tom), David Delano (Rachel), Karen Delano and Stephen Delano (Liz) and several nieces and nephews.

He lived his life in service to others. While still in high school, he volunteered as an EMT with Orange County Rescue Squad. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years, and for over 20 years in law enforcement, most recently with Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Ken saw a need to provide safe concealed carry options for both off-duty law enforcement officers and civilians. Drawing from his years of experience as a carpenter, he began to perfect the craft of creating custom Kydex holsters, forming Blue Line, LLC. He often referred to Blue Line LLC as the ‘Victoria’s Secret of holsters’ because of how much he enjoyed adding an artistic flair to a product that was so often concealed. His customers will miss his expert advice, unmatched quality work, and his dynamic storytelling.

Ken was a certified firearms instructor for over 20 years and was passionate about teaching others about personal safety. He also was a private pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna 175 and a member of the Blue Knights motorcycle club. Ken will be remembered most as the one who would come to the rescue of anyone in need without hesitation.

Services will be held at Bliley’s Staples Mill Chapel. 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA. Visitation is on Friday, April 23 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral will be on Saturday, April 24 at 2:00 PM. A graveside ceremony will take place on Monday, April 26 at 11:00 AM at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Essex County Sheriff’s Office will be holding an honor ceremony 9:00 AM at Essex High School (833 High School Road, Tappahannock, VA). Law enforcement procession will meet at 8:30 AM at Tappahannock Volunteer Fire Department (620 Airport Road, Tappahannock).
