- DANSVILLE - Arla L. Hartman, 86, of Health St., Dansville, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 17, 1999 at the King's Daughters and Sons Home in Dansville where she had been a resident since April.
She was born in Arkport on July 9, 1913, a daughter of the late George and Clara Densmore Gillmer. She was predeceased by her husbands Lee Holbert in 1970 and Martin Hartman in 1988. She was also predeceased by her daughter Elaine Hall, a grandson Donald Hall and her brothers and sisters Lloyd, Howard, Frank and Thomas Gillmer and Tressa Kennell and Alta Castle.
Arla was formerly employed at the old Dansville Memorial Hospital, Noyes Memorial Hospital and the former Blum Shoe Factory, all of Dansville.
She was a member of the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, the Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose #670 of Dansville for over 50 years.
Arla is survived by her two sons Lee (Jean) Holbert of South Haven, Mich, and Ronald (Barbara) Holbert of Dansville; two daughters Helen (Irving) Brooks of Canandaigua and Beverly (David) Hart of Macedon; a stepdaughter Ruth Beccue of Buffalo; a stepson David Hartman of Buffalo; a son-in-law Donald Hall of Dansville; a sister Suzanne Gillmer of Elmira; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
Friends called Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Sparta Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jamie Stevens officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Dansville. A Moose memorial service was held Saturday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
