Mary Jane RUSSELL Mary Jane Russell Haynes was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia, in 1838. It is uncertain when her father Thornton Russell, moved his family to Missouri. It is believed they stayed in Kentucky a short time before continuing on to Missouri. Thornton Russell is listed in the 1850 Census in Livingston County, Missouri. Mary Jane was believed to be a very religious person. It was related by Mrs. Ida McCormick, a decendant of Richard Russell, Mary Jane's brother, that the Grandchildren of Mary Jane would rather stay with the other Grandparents because Mary Jane would force them to study the Bible during their entire stay. In the last of their years, Porter and Mary Jane lived apart. Mary Jane lived with her daughter Nora (Aunt Noan) Burgard, until her death in 1911. After Mary Jane's death, Porter lived with his daughter Nora, until he died in 1924. November 6, 1994 Transcript of will of Enoch P. Haynes, recorded, pg 10, Livingston Co., MO Will Book B.
