    Maurice "Maury" St. Laurent of Simsbury, CT, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021 at the age of 76 at McLean in Simsbury, CT, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born November 10, 1944 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Maury was the son of the late Leonidas and Yvonne St. Laurent, and the second oldest of 9 children. He grew up in Fall River where he met and married the love of his life, Carol, his wife for 44 years who predeceased him in June 2012. After graduating college from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), Maury began a 30+ year career with Kodak in Rochester, NY and Great Falls, VA. Maury was a kind, loving and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family as well as taking day trips with his wife, Carol, throughout New England. He also kept himself physically fit by walking several miles each day and he could fix absolutely anything. Maury will be greatly missed by his daughter, Michelle Winkleblack of Simsbury, CT her husband Grant, and his granddaughters, Lauren and Katie. He is also survived by his grandson, Drew, the son of his late daughter, Danielle, and her ex-husband, Andrew. In addition, he is survived by 7 brothers and sisters: Gerri Shoesmith, Lee St. Laurent, Corinne Irving, Roger St. Laurent, Lil St. Laurent, Diane Price, Mike St. Laurent, and he was predeceased by his brother, Ray St. Laurent. Maury was so grateful for the love and support from his siblings and their wonderful families. Maury's family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hartford Hospital and McLean in Simsbury. During his stay at McLean's assisted living and skilled nursing units, and during his time in hospice, he was so blessed to be supported by some of the kindest and most caring staff members that anyone could imagine. A private family service has been planned. Memorial donations may be made to McLean at 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070. Vincent's Funeral Home in Simsbury is caring for the arrangements.

    Danielle grewup in Greece,NY, lived in Virginia a couple years before returning to Pittsford,NY where she attended and graduated in 1992 from Pittsford Mendon High School in Pittsford,NY. She also graduated Monroe Community College about 1995. Attended Buffalo State and Brockport State Colleges. Worked at the Genesee Country Museum in 1999-2000, as well as an in-home caregiver for several years in NY and in Texas. From 2004 to 2008 she had other odd jobs including working at a dog groomers in Dayton,TX and took care of a new born baby for a school season(2007/8), and rescued miniature greyhounds.


    Her Obituary: Danielle St.Laurent, 39, of Hull, TX died Sunday June 3, 2012 at her residence. A native of Rochester, New York she had lived in Hull, for three years and was an homemaker. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Griffin of Hull, parents Maurice and Carol St. Laurent of Rochester, New York. Son Drew Burdett of Hull, sister Michelle Winkleblack of Simsbury CT. grandmother Mary McCormick of Alexandria, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held Thursday June 7, 2012 from 1:00P.M. until 4:00P.M. at the Nolan Pickett V.F.W. Post # 5621 of Liberty, Texas. Cremation services under the care Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, Texas


    The following was written by Drew Burdett - with help from his father - read at his mother's memorial service in Liberty, TX June 7, 2012.
    My Mother's parents were both from Fall River Massachusetts, They dated for five years while her Dad put himself through college. In 1967, after college they were married and moved to Rochester, New York where her Dad worked for Kodak. They had a daughter Michelle born in 1968. My mother wrote in a biography for a school paper that before she was born her parents were expecting a boy and had the name Daniel Jeffery picked out - they found out at her birth in 1973 that she was a girl - so they changed the name to Danielle, with no middle name. My mother wrote about many issues in her early life that she carried with her always and struggled with letting go. However, nothing in the past affected her love of being the best mother to me. To me she was the worlds greatest and everyone that saw the two of us together could see that she cared and loved me more than any mother could. My father tells me how happy she was when I was born and how fortunate I was to have such a caring, loving and sensitive mother. When I was in pre-k my mother was the teacher at the catholic school I went to. My mother loved animals, especially her dogs (Ky, Penny, Ty, Tica and especially Skylar). Any dog she saw on the side of the road or abandoned, that didn't have a collar, she would take home, fix them up, and help them find a new home. She always liked cleaning and never liked having a cluttered house. Sometimes I would leave my toys on my dresser and I would come home from school and they would be put away in storage totes. She was always smiling and laughing and loved hearing me tell her jokes. She enjoyed listening to the stories I wrote for school and was always after me about my grades. When we did my homework together she would use a calculator to check my work, I sometimes would surprise her and get the answer before she could on the calculator. My mother loved waterfalls and nature, but just not the mosquitoes. If a mosquito landed on her she would run inside. She also loved birds, especially blue birds, the state bird for New York. If you saw a bird she could tell you what it is. There are so many other things about my mother that everyone should know and I wish she was still here today so I could hear her last words to me once more - “BYE, I LOVE YOU"
