- Evelyn D. Hamsher of 21 Dogwood Dr., Dansville, died Thursday (June 27, 1985) in Noyes Memorial Hospital. She was 77.
Born in Silver Springs, Mrs. Hamsher had resided in the Dansville area most of her life. She attended Alfred University where she earned a teacher certificate and taught at rural schools in West Sparta. She was employed at the Barrett and Lauffer Jewelry store in Dansville for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
Mrs. Hamsher was a member of the Dansville Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member, and past secretary, of the National Trotting Bred Association.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Kenneth; a daughter, Jean Lauffer of Caledonia; a son, Richard of Kingston, N.Y.; a brother, Theodore Denton of Dansville; two sisters, Lina Mae Murphy of South Daytona, Fla., and Carolyn Swarts of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; six grand-children and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A service was conducted in the Hindle Funeral Home Sunday afternoon with the Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, West Sparta.
