  • Klipknocky, May 19—Word was received here Friday of the death Sylvanus Maynard. Mr. Maynard with his wife and son were residents of this place for over nine years until last April when he moved family to Montrose, Pa., where he obtained work in a lumber camp. Maynard was 52 years old and died after a weeks illness of pneumonia, April 30. 1913

  • Addison - The body of Mrs. Charlotte Dimmick, of Baldwin Ave. who died Sunday morning at an out-of-town hospital, was removed to the Mayer Funeral Home here on Wall Street. Mrs. Dimmick was 81 years of age and had resided practically all her life in Addison. She had been in failing health for the past few years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Clark of Cameron Mills, Mrs. Mabel Clark of Bath; Mrs. Anna Crans of Ithaca; two sons, Osborn Dimmick of Cameron Mills, and Frank Dimmick. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2pm from the Mayer Funeral Home, Burial will be in the Town Line Cemetery, Cameron Mills.

  • Charles W. Douglas died at his home 84 Jersey Avenue, Saturday morning at four o'clock after a long illness. He was aged 72 years. Deceased was the son of George Lewis Douglas ad Lucinda McMichael Douglas. The surviving relatives are his wife, formerly Miss Mary Gately; three sons, George Lewis and T. Leroy Douglas of this city, and Charles Jr., of Waterbury, Conn.; one sister, Miss Amelia Douglas, of East Orange, NJ., and three grandchildren. The funeral will take place at the house Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Charles H. Kues will conduct the services. Burial will take place in Lake View cemetery at Honeoye, NY, at the convenience of the family.

  • Last week Thursday evening, E. Merriman, 88, well known resident of Sparta, passed away at his home, following an illness of about a week's duration. Mr. Merriman was a civil war veteran and had made his home in Sparta for many years. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Fenno Barrett of Leicester and Mrs. Frank Hamsher of Wayland, and one son, Lester Merriman of Sparta.

  • The death of Benjamin J. Mitchell occurred at the home of his youngest son, Clarence, in Garlinghouse, town of Naples, on Saturday, August 28, 1915, after a lingering illness of creeping paralysis. He was of a family of ten children all of whom have passed to the world beyond. He was born near Dansville, N. Y., on October 8, 1843, and his parents died while he was quite young.

    He was married on December 27, 1864, to Miss Rebecca Jones, of Garlinghouse, who died in January, 1902. Three children were born to this union, two sons and a daughter. Their first years of married life were spent in Wisconsin, after which they returned to their native home and settled on a farm in Garlinghouse.

    Mr. Mitchell was again married on October 23, 1904, to Mrs. Sarah West Armstrong, of the town of Springwater, N Y., who died in November, 1907.

    He was a very prosperous and energetic farmer having followed that occupation since a young man.

    He is survived by his children, Frank, who lives near North Cohocton, Myra, who is Mrs. Frank Eldridge, living near Geneva, and Clarence, with whom he lived; also two grandchildren, Alvin Eldridge and Vera Mitchell, besides several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The funeral was held on Tuesday, August 31, from the home at 1 o'clock p. m. and from the Garlinghouse school house at 2 p m., conducted by Richard Monlten, of North Cohocton. Burial in Clearview cemetery, North Cohocton, by the side of his former wife.
