- Matthew J. Kreiley, 28, of 5936 Harter Road in Sparta died
unexpectedly on Saturday Oct. 23, 1993 at Noyes Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1965 in Dansville, the son of Richard and Gloria
J. (Perry) Kreiley.
Matt was a life-long resident of Sparta and the Dansville area. He was
a 1983 graduate of Dansville Central School and a 1985 graduate of
Alfred Ag. Tech. College where he received a degree in electrical
engineering. He was employed by Dansville Electrical Supply Inc. in
Dansville since 1988 as a counter salesman.
Matt was a member of the Sparta Methodist Church, the Union Hose Co.
No. 1 of Dansville Fire Department where he had just completed 10
years of active service. He was also an active member of the Union
Hose Rescue Squad and the Dansville Fire Department and the Ambulance
Corp., where he served as a certified first responder. He was
co-captain of the Union Hose Bulldogs Drill team and member of the
Livingston County Volunteer Firefighter's Association, the Western New
York Volunteer Firemen's Association, the Firemen's Association of the
State of New York, the Western New York Firemen's Drill Team Captain's
Association, the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Parade and Drill
Team Captain's Association. He was a former member and past secretary
of the Powers Inn Club in Dansville and served on the Ambulance Corp
Truck Committee.
Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Edward (Wendy)
Kreiley of Sparta; two nieces, Evelyn and Elizabeth Kreiley of Sparta;
paternal grandparents George and Bernice Kreiley of Sparta and Audrey
Spiak of Wayland; a very special friend and family, Tammy Towner and
Adam and Joshua Towner of Dansville; several aunts, uncles and
cousins.
Arrangements were by the Chamberlin Funeral Home Inc. on 73 Main St.
in Dansville where a funeral service was Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the
Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. A fireman's prayer service was
Monday evening at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the
