  Notes	Howard was a Ships cook 2nd Class during WWII, he entered service 18Mar1944. Received his honorable discharge at Sampson Separation Center, Thursday 20Dec1945, following 21 months service in the US Navy, 13 months spent in the South Pacific. Howard's obituary from the Hornell Evening Tribune, 09Oct1998 there is the following: Howard was a well known Journeyman meat cutter for over 53 years in Dansville. He first worked for A & P Tea Co. and then as a partner with Vincent Whiteman, as well as owning his own meat processing plant and working for Smith's Market, Mr. Hartman was a 60 year member and Elder of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, a 65 year member of the Dansville Grange, a member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post, past member of the Dansville Rotary Club, Trustee of Greenmount Cemetery, member of the Dansville Board of Trade and a former member of the Town of North Dansville Board of Assessment Review. Howard's most distinguished was a 55 year membership of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge where he served as master and District Deputy of Livingston County. He was also a member of the Dansville Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Corning Consistory Scottish Rite Masons..
