    Cierna's real name was Aretha Cierna Matson, but she went by her middle name. She was the daughter of Ruth Cooper Matson and Norman Matson. She married Harry H. Miller in Cortland, NY. Harry was a widower with 3 children. Cierna and Harry had eleven children. Cierna was a dressmaker and Harry farmed. Cierna died from arteriosclerosis val des heart and the medical attendant was C.R. Bomen.

    Living with the Joseph Darby family in Cortlandville,NY in 1850,. Cirena had eleven children and as of 1900 six were still living.

    George was 28 years of age, and working on a farm for Mr. Charles Rulison. The Rulison's had gone out and while they were gone, George had gone for a swim in the pond. When he was not there they become concerned and a search party went looking for him. His body was found in the pond, the coroner Sayer was called, and said it was a case of drowning caused by cramp. One leg and one hand were badly cramped. Beside his parents he was survived by brothers and sisters as follows: Franklin L., Della, Elmer E., Mary J., Cora Mae, Emma, H. Earl, and Alice Miller.

    Clarence Stephens; granddaughter, Tracey Zirkelbach; and husband,
    Donald F. Zirkelbach.
    Serena is survived by her son, G. Donald (Alice) Zirkelbach;
    daughters, Patricia (Rev. Nathan) Dye and Marilyn (Jesse) Cimino;
    grandchildren, Richard (Nancy) Zirkelbach, Joan Zirkelbach, Barbara
    (Peter) Chiariello, Robert (Kathy) Lyke, Susan (Dennis) Cooper and
    Steven (Theresa) Lyke; seven great-grandchildren and two
    great-great-grandsons; special cousins, Jeannie (Bob) Brown; adopted
    granddaughter, Colette Gawlowiez; and several nieces and nephews.
    Serena graduated from the Canisteo Academy. On June 30, 1935, Serena
    married Donald F. Zirkelbach; they were married for 64 years. Donald
    died in 1989. They lived most of their lives in the Almond/Hornell
    area. Serena retired from the Alfred Almond Central School cafeteria
    in 1970. Upon retirement Serena and Donald enjoyed being with family
    and traveling. Four years ago, Serena moved from the Hornell area and
    made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Rochester.
    Serena had been a member of the Almond Union of Churches since 1935,
    and was active there until her move to Rochester. Serena had been
    secretary of the Philatelies, and a member of the Rebeccah's, and was
    instrumental in getting the women's prayer group started at the Almond
    Union of Churches. Serena enjoyed her family, and church family,
    sewing, knitting and traveling.
    Calling hours were Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Bender-Brown & Powers
    Funeral Home in Hornell. The funeral service was held Thursday, Sept.
    18, at the Almond Union of Churches, 11 Main St., Almond. Serena's
    son-in-law, Rev. Nathan Dye, officiating. A memorial service was also
    held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Hope Lutheran Church, 1301 Vintage
    Lane, Rochester.
