- GEORGE HOLLY DIES AT HOME IN CERES
Shinglehouse Mail: The little village of Ceres was saddened Thursday, morning when the news of the
death of George Holly was made known. He had not been in very good health for some months, but his illness was of only a few days duration. George Holly was born in and had always lived in Ceres, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Holly who were among the early settlers of that section. In early life he was united in marriage to Miss Emily Allen of Friendship, who died some months ago. The greater part of his life had been spent in farming, but his younger days were passed in lumbering and in sawmills. He was a good worker and a good scout and well-liked by his fellow workmen. He was a good citizen and neighbor, a kind friend and always had a cheery greeting for all. He was aged 71 years and is survived by one brother, John C Holly of Ceres, also a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at the house at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. T. S. Alty of Shinglehouse officiating. There were many flowers. The interment was made in the family lot in the Ceres cemetery.
