  Notes	Her Father was Dr. David Hurt (b. Ohio), mother Merinda Coy (called Mary). Her father moved to Clark County, Washington (enumerated there in 1883 next door to the Messengers). David Hurt died January 29, 1900 in Clark County - cause of death Opium. David's parents were Conrad and Rebecca Hurt. first husband: Albert Augustus Messenger married 26 Nov 1879 daughter Ella and Eva sons Archie, Leslie and Charles A.A. Messenger remarried in 1908 in Clark County, Washington to Elizabeth Hartman and they Alberta born about 1910 and son named Clyde Hartman Messenger born in 1916. Clyde Messenger gave his half-brother Charles as his contact on his WWII Draft registration as the person who would always know his address. Second husband Robert Porter - married Feb. 1903 in Aberdeen, Washington third husband R.L. Graves Daughter Ella married Carl Graven. Daughter Ella and her mother Minnie ran a small store in Portland. Ella separated from Carl Graven, divorcing him. Despondent, she killed her mother (shot through the head) and committed suicide. Her note said this was better than an asylum and that "mama was tired"- in the note she said all insurance and belongings should go to her sister Eva. Both bodies were sent from Portland to Astoria.
