- JAMES MORTIMER MEADE.
James M. Meade, widely known in Ontario and Yates counties, died at his home in Honeoye Tuesday morning, October 7th, aged 85 years. Mr. Meade had enjoyed remarkably good health during his long life until several months ago, when he began to fail and gradually sank until the end.
Mr. Meade was born in Yates county on June 17, 1839. In early life he studied medicine under Dr. Smith at a water cure in Geneva, but never practiced. He was of a literary turn of mind and was for many years a correspondent of various papers. Being a great reader with a wonderfully retentive memory, he was an entertaining conversationalist. About five years ago he married Mrs. Minnie Pennell, of Honeoye, where he had since made his home. Besides his wife he is survived by two brothers, Elnathan Meade, of Washington, D. C„ and Jerry Meade, of Middlesex. The funeral was held from his late home on Thursday, October 9th, and burial was made at Honeoye.
