Dr. Reynale was an earnest, active Christian. He joined the Presbyterian church of this village in 1829 and in 1835 was elected a ruling elder of that church, which responsible office he held from that time until his death. Dr. Reynale was eminent in his profession and especially as a surgeon. In deed so generally recognized and so wide was his fame as a physician and a surgeon not only in professional circles but among the people, that it is hardly necessary for us to mention the fact. As a man he was impulsive and sometimes hasty and quite rough in his manner, but beneath all this seeming austerity lay a tender, sympathetic heart, as thousands of sufferers can personally testify. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor, a generous husband and father, a faithful Christian, and as such he will sadly missed and long mourned in this community. Being dead, he yet speaketh, and his words are potent for good.
