    Notes
    • A. J. Hartman's Sudden Death; Andrew Jackson Hartman, familiarly known as "Jack" Hartman, was found dead in his bed at half-past eight o'clock Sunday morning. He had been unwell for sometime, and during the night was up and down several times. About seven o'clock in the morning he came down stairs, but immediately went back to his room and lay down on the bed. His sister, Mrs. Stover, looked into his room occasionally, and finally seeing that he was unusually quiet she stepped to the side of the bed and found that he as dead. Coroner Perine examined the body and was convinced that his death was caused by an affection of the heart, and therefore did not hold an inquest. Mr.Hartman was a son of Jacob Hartman, one of the earliest settlers, and had always resided in the Dansville, living with his aged mother at the lower end of Main Street. During the existence of the "Old Canaseragas" as a military company he was one of the most efficient members. Mr. Hartman was a man whom everybody liked and his death will be greatly regretted. He was a prop of his mother in her declining years, and the loss to her can never be replaced. A delegation numbering twenty, commanded by Col. T.B. Grant attended the funeral which took place from the house on Tuesday, Rev. P.A. Strobel officiating. The family desires to return thanks to all the friends who rendered services and especially to the singers.
