    Notes
    • Living on Church Street in Dansville in 1880 census, as a Flour and Feed Dealer.

      Dansville Express January 14, 1927....
George Bradner Dippy passed away Tuesday morning at seven o'clock at his home on church street, after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia. He was the son of the late Abram and Susan Flick Dippy and was born July 5, 1834, in Dansville.
His father, Abram Dippy, was a veteran of the War of 1812 and was engaged in the battle of Lundy's Lane.
Mr. Dippy, received his education in the public schools of Dansville and later took the full course in Lima Seminary. He was united in marriage to Sophia Mehlenbacher, June 25, 1885. In his early life he was a prosperous farmer and later purchased the flour and feed store of Isaac Knapp, which he successfully conducted for twenty-four years.
He enlisted in Portage, New York, Company B, 136th N.Y.V., as Corporal and was discharged on a surgeon's certificate of disability. He was a member of Canaseraga Infantry which for years was the light and pride of the village of Dansville and gave many good officers and privates to the Union Army during the civil strife. A veteran corps was organized after the war and held many important reunions. Mr Dippy was the last Dansville living member of the Light Infantry. He was also a member of Seth N. Hedges Post of the G.A.R. since 1891.
For many years he was associated with his brother-in-law, the late Frank Mehlenbacher, in the building ownership of the Dippy-Mehlenbacher block in upper Main street.
The building was erected for the F.A. Owen Publishing Company and was occupied for many years until the growth of the company necessitated larger quarters. In later years the building has been used for apartments. Mr. Dippy was an attendant of St. Paul's United Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, one niece, Mrs Sara Sheppard Feagles of Buffalo, and two nephews, Robert Dippy of Philadelphia and Albert Dippy of New York City.
Funeral services were held from the family home on Church street Thursday afternoon at two thirty. Rev. Charles M. Karg, D.D., officiating. Burial in the family lot in Greenmount cemetery.
The bearers were B.C. Mehlenbacher, Cyril Mehlenbacher, Edward Vogel, Earl Vogel, Robert Dippy, nephews of the deceased, and James Finn.
