- Dansville, N.Y. — Mark L. Weidman, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Wednesday (March 28, 2012) at the Vincent House in Wayland.
Mark was born Oct. 17, 1924 in the Town of Ossian, a son of Ray and Addie (Linzy) Weidman. He was a graduate of Dansville High School. As a young man, Mark worked at his family’s farm, at Spencer & Rollins Gas Station and Kelly Brothers Nursery. He retired from Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville after 40 years of dedicated service. He also worked at the Dansville United Methodist Church and most recently at Stony Brook State Park, retiring at the age of 82. In addition to his parents, Mark was also predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Short) Weidman in 1982; his sisters, Ruby and Lucy; his brothers, John, Hugh, Reid, Lynn and Neal Weidman.
Mark was a member of the 25 Year Club of Foster Wheeler, the Dansville Fish & Game Club and the Dansville United Methodist Church.
Mark is survived by his second wife, Johanne (Vogt) Weidman; his daughters, Sandra (Stanley) Lander and Judy (Richard) Sundlof, all of Dansville; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Rick) Joseph, Stephen (Arminnie) Lander, Brian (Rhonda) Sundlof and Brett (Emily Sundlof; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Joshua, Joseph, Clara, Madelyn, Morgan “Paige” and Eli Sundlof; four step-children, Tom Fagan, Mike (Mary) Fagan, Deanna Fagan and Susan Murray; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Ave., Dansville, where a celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vincent House, P.O. Box 566, Wayland, N.Y. 14572 of the Dansville United Methodist Church (Library Fund) 5 Chestnut Ave., Dansville, N.Y. 14437.
