Notes - Clarence Henry Lander was a son of Jacob and Catherine Smalt Lander. He was born in South Dansville, May 5, 1881, and was united in marriage with Flora Harter in 1912. They lived in Wayland for four years, then moved to Cohocton on River Road. Mrs. Lander died in 1919. Besides a daughter Beatrice, Mr. Lander was survived by brothers Frank of Dansville, Fred of Hornell and Albert of Cohocton. After his wife's death, Clarence had made his home with his brother Albert, and the two were partners in the management “of one of the most prosperous farms in the community and have been constant companions for 27 years.” Mr. Clarence Harter died in Bethesda Hospital in Hornell on Friday, July 16, 1943; he was 62. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with Rev. W. J. Semple, pastor, officiating followed by interment in Lakeside cemetery at Loon Lake.
