Notes - Avoca, Jan. 24- This community was shocked Thursday morning to learn of the death of Ward A. Austin which occurred at the Bath Hospital at 6:30 o’clock after an illness of a week following an operation. He was born in the town of Campbell February 11, 1885, the son of Charles and Sarah Austin, having three brothers and one sister. When a young man he came to Avoca where the greater portion of his life had since been spent, having been an employee of the Noxon Broom Company. About 10 years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Vira Bugh of Atlanta and to them was born a son who died in infancy. Mr. Austin was a member and held an office in Avoca Lodge No. 673, F. & A.M. He is survived by his widow; three brothers, Samuel of Kanona; William of Bluff Point; and Harry of this village; and a sister, Mrs. Lewis Shaut of Bath. The funeral was held from the home on South Main Street this afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Robert S. Jones, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery where the Avoca Masonic body conducted the services.
