Tupelo Drive, Fla., formerly of Canisteo, died Friday (April 9, 2004)
at his home, following a long illness.
Born in Hartsville, May 8, 1926, the son of Fred and Lillie Woodworth
Hartman, he had resided in Canisteo until 1999 before moving to New
Port Richey, Fla.
Clarence owned and operated Hartman's Auto Service in Canisteo from
1955-1988. He was a 38-year member of the Canisteo American Legion,
Canisteo Rod & Gun Club; a member of Morning Star Lodge #65 F&AM,
where he had been Master of the lodge twice; and a member of the
former Canisteo Chapter #210 OES, where he was a past patron and a
past District Grand Lecture for the Steuben District OES.
Clarence served his country during WWII in the Army.
He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Hale; and a brother, Charles
Hartman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margie Cone Hartman of
Florida; one son, Wayne Hartman of Canisteo; three sisters, Doris
VanFleet of Canisteo, Louise Brown of Bath, and Julia Barton of
Georgia; one brother, James Hartman of Canisteo; two grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
