Born in Trieste, Italy to the late Constantin and Evghenia Jurebie Colimitra, Mrs. Rusu was a Trumbull Town resident for more than 20 years. Vala was a graduate of the Butler Business School, graduating as an accountant shortly after coming to this country with her family. She had worked for the Pandair International-Air Express Company of Darien from which she retired. Vala was a longtime member of the St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church and was a volunteer for the church festivals. A loving wife and mother, Vala especially cherished the times that she would spend with her precious grandsons, Anton and Alexander. In addition to her devoted husband Radu, Mrs. Rusu is survived by her son, Gabriel Rusu and his wife, Iulia of Ansonia; a daughter, Andrea Montini and her husband, Raymond of Bridgeport; grandsons, Anton and Alexander Rusu; a brother, Andrei Colimitra and his wife, Caterina of Fairfield; aunts, Eleonora and Alexandrina Jurebie; an uncle, Dean Jurebie; brothers-in-law, Vasile and Ion; a sister-in-law, Victoria; and in-laws, Ion, Antoaneta and Marina Ja-palau; as well as godchildren, Sabrina and Matei; cousins, Vasilichia Colimitra Barba and Victoria Mitu; and their families as well as nieces and nephews in the United States and Romania. She was predeceased by her aunt, Marcela Jurebie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30 at 11 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave., Bridgeport (due to the construction of the St. Dimitrie Church of Easton) burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday (Today) from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Nicholas Antiochian Church. Arrangements in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Dimitrie Church Relocation Fund.
