- SIMEON POOL(E), who was born 28 Nov 1756, in Bristol, Mass. SIMEON POOL(E) married PHEBE ?, either in Bristol, Mass. or GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. Simeon was a sailor. He had a son born in GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J., 9 May 1788, named BENJAMIN POOL. JACOB POOL(E) probably died in GLOUCESTER CO.,N.J., but the SIMEON POOL(E) family migrated to Southern Ohio around 1800, stopping in Washington County, OH. Simeon Pool founded the town of MALTA, in Morgan Co., OH. His son, BENJAMIN continued on down river to Clermont Co., OH after becoming of age, where he married Mary Smith, raised a family and died. Benjamin's death certificate indicates he was born in GLOUCESTER CO.,N.J. 9 May 1788, to SIMEON & PHEBE POOL(E).
- Nancy Pool Bell 1786-1828 and John Bell 1787-1832 married 1804 Washington County, Ohio and had 5 children. Both Nancy Pool and her sister Mary Gardiner were the daughters of Simeon Pool 1756-1828 who as a Navy veteran settled in Marietta, Ohio 1793 were a daughter Abigail and sons Simeon Jr., Jesse, Guy, Harry and Benjamin were born in New York or Ohio, many of the children lived in Indiana after 1830. Simeon and John Bell laid out the city of Malta, Ohio in 1816. Many decadents live in Morgan County, Ohio today.
Simeon Pool's father may be a Jacob Pool of Dighton Bristol Massachusetts and a descendant of Captain Edward Pool and another relative states he was in the merchant navy and settled in New Jersey. Strong evidence would favor the Captain Ed Poole family and that Simeon is the father of Mary and Nancy not Richard Pool Sr. as some believe. I checked the Poole Family DNA website and there was no evidence of Ed Pool's family being tested to match the Richard Pool family which I believe his father William Daniel immigrated to New Jersey from England.
