- Albert L. Holbrook, 73, of 32 Perine St., Dansville, died Tuesday (Nov. 28, 1989) in the Bath VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Dansville May 22, 1916, he was the son of Carl and Ethel Thompson Holbrook. He married Irene Smith, who survives, on Mar. 3, 1943.
A veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy, he was a member of Daniel Goho American Legion Post and had been a member of the Legion's Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a member of Frank J. Casbolt VFW Post and the Sampson WW II Navy Veterans Inc.
Mr. Holbrook was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Dansville, Phoenix Lodge No. 115, F.&A.M. He was a past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons, Dansville Chapter No. 91, and a member of the High Priest Club of Rochester. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Rochester Consistory, and a past member of the Damascus Temple of the Shrine.
He had served as a member of the Board of Directors of the former Dansville Memorial Hospital and was a past chairman of the Dansville United Fund.
Active as a volunteer fireman, he was a member of the Protectives Fire Co., a past chief of the Dansville Fire Department. He was recipient of the Certificate of Excellence from both the Livingston County and the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association.
He had been employed for many years with General Railway Signal of Rochester and at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville where he had been a methods engineer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one brother, Robert of Dansville, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home in Dansville. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
A military prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home followed at 7:30 p.m. by a firemen's service.
