  Notes	Ethel also attended Alfred for a year or so where she met Duncan. However, she eventually had to leave school to care for her critically ill mother. After moving to Shelburne, VT she also worked at the Museum becoming trained as a very knowledgeable and successful curator-guide for the Museum's extensive handmade quilt and coverlets exhibition collection. She loved music and singing and taught herself to play the piano with a notable degree of accomplishment, playing confidently by ear, as well as reading music. When she died she had eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
