  Notes	Lena Smith at 101, was believed to be Dansville's oldest Resident Lena Smith, who - at 101 - was believed to be the oldest resident of Dansville, Livingston County, died last Sunday at Noyes Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since November. Until November, Mrs. Smith had been living at the home she and her family had owned since 1918, said her son, Elmer Smith. Born in the hamlet of Oak Hill, Steuben County, she attended rural schools there before moving to Dansville as a young girl. In 1910, she began working as a clerk in the subscription department of the former F. A. Owen Publishing Co. in Dansville and remained with the company for 43 years until her retirement in 1953. "She loved to crochet, she liked to cook, and enjoyed going on trips when she was younger," her son said. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of Dansville's Deborah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a life-long member of the Sunshine Circle of Dansville Presbyterian Church. In addition to her son, Elmer, Mrs. Smith is survived by a granddaughter, Karen Lawall, of Quakertown, PA. (Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester NY, Saturday February 16, 1985, page 7)

  Photos		Hedgehurst, on Oak Hill in South Dansville, NY A collection of snapshots around Hedgehurst. Owned by Lorenzo Hulbert in the late 1800's to early 1900's. The home was being rented out in the 1930's when it caught fire and burn down. Today all that remains is the well and an open field. The first official Burditt Reunion was held here in 1905. The 2005 reunion was held less than a mile up the road at the American Legion Recreational Facility.
