Notes - IRVING, Charles Earl, Sr. (Age 77) entered into rest on May 18, 1998 in Spokane. He was born in Ethel, Mississippi, September 24, 1920, to Edwin and Mavis Irving. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1945, as a radio operator gunner and mechanic, flying 32 missions overseas. He was highly decorated and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Catherine Lyons in 1942 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and moved to Spokane in 1945. Mr. Irving worked as a self-employed roofing and siding contractor. Survivors include: sons, Charles Jr., Phil and Marc of Spokane; Pat of Fall River, MA; daughters, Lynda Sanborn, Sheila Rutherford, Theresa McMullen, all of Spokane; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; niece, Charlene Hughes of Alabama. Mr. Irving was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary (1984) and wife, Catherine (1986). Mr. Irving was a member of Fourth Memorial Church. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 1998, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 508 N. GOVERNMENT WAY, SPOKANE, with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Rev. Ed Underhill officiating. Friends may pay their respects Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Neuro Fibromatosis Foundation of Washington, 6628 212th St. SW, Suite 114, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
