  Notes	JOHN GREEN, born June 1636, in Cambridge, Mass.; died Mar. 3,1690-1; married Ruth Mitchelson, Oct. 20, 1656. She was born Nov. 9, 1638, in Cambridge, Mass.; daughter of Edward and Ruth (Bushnell) Mitchelson. She married secondly Samuel Champney, of Cambridge. He and his wife were both members of the Church of Cambridge, Mass. His father-in-law was Marshall General of the Colony, and he succeeded him. "John Greene is chosen Marshall Gennirall by the whole court and took the oath the same day before the Governor and Magistrate the third of June 1681." During the Andros usurpation in 1687, he was superceeded in office by Samuel Gookin, but after the Revolution two years later he was reinstated through apparently with some opposition. An inventory was made of his estate Apr. 4, 1691, when it was appraised at 95 pounds. Children, born in Cambridge, Mass.: John, b. July 24, 1657; was taken prisoner by the Turks, in 1681.
