    • William D. (Bill) Ferguson, 78, a resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2nd, 2019, at Bradenton Tidewell Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his children, Heather (Richard) Ferguson-Hull and Scott (Florinda) Ferguson; his grandchildren, Evan and Alec Ferguson-Hull, Mia, Connor, and Spencer Ferguson; his sister, Catherine (Ferguson) Thompson; his partner of many years, Lauren Watson; and his former wife, Kathryn Ferguson. Son of Kenneth and Edith (Dewey) Ferguson, Bill was born on February 3rd, 1941, in Rochester, N.Y. He is a graduate of Fairport High School (1958), and received his Bachelors degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Business in 1962. He enjoyed an illustrious and global corporate career that began at G. Fox & Co., spanned across United Airlines, General Electric, Inter-Continental Hotels, Fiat and culminated at Otis Elevator where he was a Vice-President of International Human Resources. Throughout his career, he volunteered extensively, most significantly as a Director, Secretary, and Vice Chair of the Red Cross for the State of Connecticut. Upon retirement, Bill deepened his commitment to volunteering as a consultant to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation, and as the President of the Board of Directors for the Sun Coast Community Blood Services. An avid golfer, Bill loved serving as 'Team Leader' for the Tuesday Men's Golf League at El Conquistador Golf Club. Any leftover free time was spent working on his crossword puzzles, researching his fantasy football team, and engaging in political discussions.
