I noticed your posting at the O'Dea Clan Forum (below) from 2002, and I was very interested and I hope you might have more information. I found an 1837 marriage record from St Senan's Church in Kilrush Parish for my great-great grandparents, Bernard O'Dea from Donagrogue and Mary Mangan from Knockerra (Kilrush, Clare). Bernard's father was Thomas O'Dea. Bernard and Mary had four children who came to North America in 1850 with Mary: Bridget (b 1840), Simon (b 1842), Catherine (b 1845), and John (b 1848). I believe they were transported during the starvation after losing their farm plot. We have no indication that Bernard made the trip. I have evidence that indicates that they had two older children. Mary and the 4 kids traveled through Quebec and lived in Hamilton Ont 1850-1853 and moved to Buffalo NY. Bridget married Stephen McNamara and had several children in Buffalo. Simon was a ship captain on the Great Lakes (you can Google him) - he lived in Muskegon MI and then returned to Buffalo with his wife & 7 kids. John is my father's father's father who had about 8 kids who lived in Buffalo.
As you mention, the Griffith's Valuation data show a Patrick O'Dea and an Anthony O'Dea from Donagrogue, both dated 1855. It seems likely they wre related to Bernard, and I wonder if they could be Bernard and Mary's older two kids, though they seem young: The older could be about 18 in 1855. They may have been related in a different way -- e.g., brothers to Bernard or to Thomas....
