- Mary K. Sterner, 85, died Tuesday (April 22, 2008) at McAuley Manor, Hornell.
She was born Oct. 16, 1922, the daughter of Harvey and Jane (Middlesworth) Knapp in Ossian. Mary was a 1941 graduate of Dansville High School and worked for FA Owen Publishing Co. in Dansville, later she was employed as a cashier at the Foster Wheeler Corp. cafeteria.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold S. Sterner, they were married on Aug. 19, 1942; a daughter, Dianne (David) Fancher of Florida; two sons, Douglas (Dawn) Sterner of Dansville and Alan Sterner of Arcade; a sister, Margaret (Jim) Vosteen of Rochester; a brother, Hugh Knapp of Dansville; six grandchildren, Brett (Tracy) Sterner, Greg and Matthew Sterner, Jeffrey, Todd and Tracey Fancher; also two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Mason Sterner; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Howard; and sister, Helen.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4 Perine St., Dansville, where services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
