    Notes
    • A New England Veteran Those who witnessed the formation of New England Hardware Dealers Association or assisted therein recall the effective earnest work done by George W Burditt who was president of the organization in 1900 and 1901. He lived to a good old age having been born in 1839 and recently passed away at his home in Cambridge Massachusetts. Mr Burditt was a native of Boston and began his hardware career in the store of MC Warren on Dock Square. He sailed the seas for a time and when the call came for soldiers in 1861 promptly offered his services to his country. In 1866 he re-entered the hardware business as a member of the firm of Farrington & Burditt at Holyoke Mass and after a time continued it under his own name. At the time of his death he had practically retired from active business.
