  Notes	Carrie had a difficult young life which may have been precipitated by her mother's unsettled upbringing. Carrie's mother, Cora Belle, was an only child and orphaned when she was about 2 years old. She lived with her grandparents William Bow and his wife Lovina Wood and later lived with her great aunt Adelia (Adams) Bowe until her marriage to John Elliott. Cora Belle died at age 23 when Carrie and her twin brother Roy John Davis were toddlers. Carrie's father then married his deceased wife's aunt Harriet. Harriet died less than 10 years after becoming the second Mrs. Elliott and left behind another living child, Cora. There then came a third Mrs. Elliott, the former Miss Ida Hartman. Roy was sent to live with his great aunt Phebe Bow and her husband James Davis who later adopted him. Things then began looking up for Carrie when she met Milton Criger. Carrie married Milton and shortly thereafter gave birth to a son. Carrie's life went well for about 10 years. Between 1915 and 1920 Carrie ran out on Milton and their son with Mr. Noyes Hartman. Not only was Noyes married with children at the time, but he was also the brother of Carrie's current step-mother Ida. It was quite the scandal. Although Carrie and Noyes never married, she was using his surname in the 1920 and 1930 censuses in Crested Butte, Colorado. Noyes died at work in 1927, still married to Amelia back in NY. Carrie and Milton officially divorced on 07 Jul 1930 at Buffalo, NY. Carrie was living with John Palmgren in the 1930 census, and they are shown as married in the 1940 census. Apparently never officially married him, as there is a probate court record in 1952 in Denver and she is listed as Carrie Hartman, mental incompetent (no record of a marriage). She is buried with him John Palmgren in Gunnison Cemetery in 1953.
