- Mrs. Charles Stanton Dead.
Mrs. Eunice Stanton died at the home of her son Myron P. Stanton, near Prattsburgh, Tuesday morning, January 20th, aged ninety-two years. She was the mother of fifteen children. Twelve grew to maturity and were married. Three died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. C. A. Bedell of this place; Mrs. Matilda Whiting, Wisconsin, Mrs. Harriet Smith, Oklahoma; Mrs. Jerome Brink, South Bristol; Myron P. Stanton, Prattsburgh and Samuel E. Stanton of this village. Mrs. Stanton's madian name was Hendee and she was born in Rutland County, Vt. Her husband was Charles W. Stanton, for years a well-known blacksmith of Allegany County, where the family was reared. He died in this village at the home of Mrs. Bedell about fourteen years ago. Mrs. Stanton had resided with her children in this village since Mr. Stanton's death. She is also survived by forty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Stanton had a very retentive memory until within a few years. She was related to Ethan Allen, one of the well-known historical characters of the Revolutionary war and remembered the man well, having as a child sat upon his knee and listened to his tales of war.
