- DANSVILLE - Theodore J. 'Ted' Hayes, 76, of Stones Falls Rd., Dansville passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 27, 2003 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville following a short illness.
Ted was born in Whitesboro, N.Y. on Aug. 3, 1926, a son of the late William and Gertrude Lander Hayes. On Oct. 16, 1948, he was married to the former Rita 'Pat' Concannon, who survives. He was also predeceased by a brother, William Hayes.
Ted was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater aboard the USS Woolsey, USS Carmick and the USS Bountiful. He worked at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville for over 42 years, retiring in 1988.
Ted was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Dansville. He was a member of Daniel Goho Post #87 of The American Legion, Frank J. Casbolt Memorial Post #6780 of the VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1130, all of Dansville; the 25 Year Club and IAM Local #1665 at Foster Wheeler.
Surviving in addition to his dear wife Pat are five sons: James (Cyndi) Hayes of Swain, Jeffrey (Rachel) Hayes of Dansville, Kevin (Sue) Hayes of Buffalo, Terry (Michelle) Hayes of Indiana, and Matthew Hayes of North Carolina; three daughters: Coleen (Mike) Swan of Springwater, Mary Ellen (Harold) Kysor of Colorado, and Beth (Donald) Hayes-Lee of Buffalo; a brother, Robert (Rose) Hayes of Dansville and two sisters, Margaret (Fred} Lemen of Dansville and Helen (Richard) White of Springwater; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hayes of Dansville; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Dansville. Interment with full military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
