- South Dansville- Catherine C. Lander age 97, passed away early Saturday morning September 26, 2015, at the McCauley manor at Mercy Care in Hornell, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
She was born in the Town of Wayland on September 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Frederick and Caroline (Kiefer) Isaman. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years Harold Lander in 2005.
Catherine was a home maker, who was famous for her baking and cooking skills. Everyone enjoyed her chocolate pies and her homemade dinner rolls. She lived on a dairy farm her whole life and was sure to always have a good meal waiting for her family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and every year had a “round up” gathering for them. She was a part of the United Methodist Women, a former member of the Oak Hill Grange, an involved member of the South Danville United Methodist Church, and a social member of the South Dansville Fire Department.
She is survived by her sons; Gerald Lander of St. Petersburg Florida, Stanley (Sandra) Lander, and Gary (Tom Wieszczyk) Lander both of South Dansville. A brother, Paul Isaman of Wayland, a sister, Beatrice Saxton of Cohocton. grandchildren Stephanie (Rick) Joseph, Stephen (Arminnie) Lander, Christina (Richard Jackson) Lander, Laura (Rich Granata). Great-grandchildren Sarah, Rachel, Josh Joseph, Sienna Lander.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00am at the South Dansville United Methodist Church. 9667 County Route 46, Arkport, NY 14807. Interment Rogersville Forrest Lawn Cemetery South Dansville. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Gathering Place in South Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
