- Norma J. Button, 78, of County Route 13, entered into rest Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003) at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Norma was born June 22, 1924 in the Town of Howard to Harold and Jennie Nicholson Stewart. She married Gerald A. Button on Oct. 20, 1944 in the Town of Howard, who survives. She was predeceased by a brother, Dean Stewart. She was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, the former Hornell Business School, and was a secretary for the Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Service in Bath for many years. She was also a member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church for over 60 years. In addition to her husband of 58 years, Gerald, she is survived by two sons, Arlan (Carol) Button of Cohocton and Merlin (Debbie) Button of Campbell; three daughters, Linda (Larry) Stewart of Jasper, Loreen (Lynn) Karr of Howard and Carleen (Larry) Guild of Jasper; two sisters, Marilyn Egresi of Prattsburgh and Donna (Jack) Gross of Avoca; one brother, Wilbur (Charlene) Stewart of Willow, Alaska; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Norma's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, County Route 69, in the Town of Howard, with the Rev. Daniel Pickering officiating. Burial will be in the Towelsville Cemetery, Towelsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Norma Button may be made to the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund, 6034 County Route 69, Canisteo, N.Y. 14823. Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
