- Margaret Walker was born Wanamie, Pennsylvania the daughter of the Edward and Anna J. (Morris) Phillips. She attended the Newport Township schools and graduated from the high school in 1924. She also graduated from the former Bloomsburg Normal School in 1926. Before marrying, she was a substitute teacher at the Stairville schools. Following her marriage to Fred E. Walker on March 12, 1929, she resided in Glen Lyon for 63 years. She resided at West Shores Retirement Center in Hot Springs from 1992 until her death. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Glen Lyon United Methodist Church and the Newport United Methodist Church in Alden. She was a 71-year member of Nanticoke Chapter 174, Order of the Eastern Star.
