Leonard was born in New York state, November 25, 1863. He departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Robinson, in Artesia, N. M., August 1, 1937, aged 73 years, 8 months, and 6 days.
He was married March 28, 1882, to Laura A. Cross, who died November 20, 1925. To this union were born seven children: Ernest G., who preceded him in death December 16, 1916; Harvey A. of Orofino, Idaho; Charles E. of Sedgwick Col.; Lula G. Robinson of Artesia, N.M.; Guy O. of Geneva, Neb.; Emory of Los Angeles, and Kathleen E. of Cal.
Mr. Leonard was made a Master Mason in lodge No. 79, April 13, 1907. He left Geneva July 21 for California, going by way of Artesia, N. M. to visit his daughter and family.
The evening of July 28, he suffered a heart attack from which he failed to recover, going quietly and peacefully to sleep August 1.
The body was accompanied home by his son Emory.
The funeral service was held at the Hrubesky mortuary at 10 a. m. Friday, and was conducted by Dr. Edward W. Day of the Geneva Congregational Church. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
