  Notes	Howard's World War I Draft Registration Card notes he was single, a farmer, had blue eyes, brown hair, slender build, tall height. In 1930 the five members of the Van Wagnen family were res. Union Corner Rd., West Sparta, where Howard worked as a farmer. Howard A. VanWagnen, a retired longtime West Sparta farmer, died Tuesday (Apr. 22, 1980) in the Lakeland Convalescent Center in Florida. He was 84. Mr. VanWagnen, who served on the West Sparta Town Board for many years, was born in West Sparta and owned and operated a farm there until his retirement in 1978. He was a charter member and was past master of the West Sparta Grange and was also a member of Livingston County Pomona Grange and the New York State Grange. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge. Friends may call at the Chamberlin Funeral Home in Dansville from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be conducted there Friday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Morris Village Cemetery. (April 24, 1980, The Genesee Country Express, NY)
