    • Donald W. VanWagnen, 80, of Dansville passed away early Friday morning, June 11, 2004, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Don was born in Rochester on April 23, 1924, a son of the late Howard and Helen Webster VanWagnen. On Nov. 30, 1984, he married Kathleen Starzynski, who survives. He was also predeceased by a grandson, Todd Kenney, and two sons-in-law, Gerald Derrenbacher and Jack Alvord. Don owned and operated his own farm in West Sparta for many years. He was a bus driver for LATS for 20 years, retiring in 1999. He was a Meals on Wheels driver for the Dansville Senior Nutrition Program, a Royal Arch Mason and a member of Phoenix Lodge #115 of the F&AM, the West Sparta Grange, the Keshequa Golf Club and the Committee on Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. Surviving in addition to his wife Kathy are his son Andrew (Connie) VanWagnen of Ohio; four daughters, Dianne Derrenbacher of Syracuse, Donna Alvord of Dansville, Darlene (Rodney) Wambold of Geneseo and Debbie (Mike) VanDerwerken of New Jersey; a stepson, Tony Savukinas of Pennsylvania, and a stepdaughter, Mary (Roger) Forell of Syracuse; a brother Robert (Wilma) VanWagnen of Batavia; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends called Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville, where services were held Monday at 1 p.m. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. A Masonic memorial service was held Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

    • Hornell - Miss Carolyn Jean Savage, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Savage of East Washington, was united in marriage Saturday to Donald W. Van Wagnen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Van Wagnen of Dansville, in Park Methodist Church. The Rev. Glenn E. Bucher performed the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white Jersey marquisette gown and carried a bouquet of white gladiolas and roses. Miss Peggy Savage, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and wore an orchard over taffeta, with matching net head-dress, and carried yellow gladiolas. Bridesmaids were Misses Margery Galutia, Arthena Kidd, Florence Franke and Janis Ramsdell. The first two wore yellow net gowns with matching headdresses and carried colonial bouquets of gladiolas tied with green ribbon. The latter two wore gowns of Nile green and carried bouquets tied with yellow ribbon. Pvt. Robert J. Van Wagnen was best man, and ushers were Sgt. Ernest W. Whitton, Austin Hartman and John C. Rowe all of Dansville. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors, and later a recep-tion for the immediate wedding party was given at the bride's home. Mr. and Mrs. Van Wagnen left later in the day for a motor trip through the northern part of the state.
