      A TRIBUTE
      To Forest L. Stewart
Suddenly our community was saddened by a power beyond human control, which took the life of Forest L. Stewart, My friend, Your friend, and Our neighbor. Leaving his body behind, he journeys on toward immortality and unending existence. Safe from earth's storm and despair—Safe from the rude wind that tossed his floundering bark, now safely moored, his perils over. A man of great patience and heroic courage, well liked by all who knew him for his upright Christian character, integrity, and hospitality. His home never locked to any of his friends who cared to enter. While mentally alert he felt a quickened smart to wounds that had ranked his weakened flesh. He brought us pride and pleasure and left us a pathos of tears, forgetting the tortures of his body, is now lost in the triumph of his soul. Yet the years of our pilgrimage on earth rolls on, while we walk through the wilderness of this world. Life on earth is brief, we come out of the dark, back to the dark, and like a bird, flutter for a moment in the light. All of us that breathe will share that destiny. Thus man and mankind journeys from strength to invalidism, from joy to sorrow, from misery to happiness, and from defeat to victory. At this point we are mindful of the efforts of a faithful and vigilant wife whose promise to watch over in sickness and in health has been fulfilled. We wish it were possible for him who has left us to get one glance at the flowers, the gestures of respect, that adorn his grave and to inhale one breath of the fragrance of the red, the yellow, the blue and those as white as the foam of the wave that carried this neighbor home. Our admiration for this man who never lost his enthusiasm for life will always last and hope will brighten our remaining days and memory will gild the past.
