Ellis Shetler Dies
Of Heart Attack;
Falls From Tower
Ellis J. Shetler, a lineman for the Iroquois Gas Company with offices in Honeoye Falls, died suddenly of a coronary thrombosis while working at the top of a sixty foot gas well tower at Footer Well in the town of Bristol on Monday morning os week. His fellow worker, Wm. Prouty, looked on in horror as he saw Mr. Shetler's body plunge to the ground. He was dead before he fell, according to Dr. Charles J. Bobeck, Ontario County Coroner.
Mr. Shetler, 54, leaves his wife, Helene, and a daughter, Helene Kay, and six brothers and four sisters. A resident of W. Bloomfield, Mr. Shetler had been an employee of the gas company, until recently known as the Republic Gas Heat and Ligmpany, for approximately twenty years.
The morning of the accident he and Mr. Prouty were preparing at 9:15 a.m., when death occurred, to remove water from the well.
Friends may call at Stephens Funeral Home on Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls from 2-5 and 7-9 and services will be held Thursday, January 31, 1957 at 2 o'clock with Mr. George Leissner officiating. Interment is in the West Bloomfield Cemetery.
The entire community was shocked at the sudden passing of Ellis Shetler, one of West Bloomfield's outstanding good neighbors. Always smiling and always willing to help someone else, that was Ellis. This community extends the deepest sympao his family.
