  Notes	OBITUARY,Evening Tribune News Paper,December 10,2003 VIRGINIA E. WISE CANISTEO - Virginia E. Wise,85,of 11 South Elm St., passed away Tuesday(Dec.9.2003) in St. James Mercy Hospital.Born in Canisteo on July 23,1918,the daughter of Leo M.and Catherine Cornish Beattie,she had resided in Elmira,for a short time,but most of her life in Canisteo.She was a graduate of the former Canisteo Academy,and had worked at the former Canisteo Silk Mill. Later,she was employed at the former Westinghouse Plant in Bath, retiring after about 35 years of service.She also assisted her parents in the operation of Beattie's Appliance Store which later became the Canisteo Red Bird Service.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canisteo,and the Philathea Class of the church.She was an avid bowler,and will be remembered for her love of gardening. She was predeceased by her parents,one son,Douglas Wise; her sister,Lois McKee; and her brother, Donald S. Beattie.She is survived by one daughter,Patrica(Gary) Davis of Canisteo; nine grandchildren William Davis,James (Julie)Davis,Christopher(Kerry) Davis,Melinda (Dan) Bishop,Catherine(Denny) Mullikin Stephanie(Jim) Naylor,Monica(Mike) Matacale,Matthew Wise,and Andrea (Jon) Ernest; 14 great-grandchildren,and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces,and nephews. The family will be present 4-8 p.m. Friday,Dec.12.to receive friends at BROWN & POWERS FUNERAL HOME,6 Spruce St. Canisteo.Funeral Services will be held following calling hours at 8p.m. Rev. Curtis Corky,and Rev.Philip Kuhn will officate.Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
