- SOUTH DANSVILLE - Harold L. Lander, 88, formerly of South Dansville, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2005, at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath.
Harold was born in the Town of Dansville on June 2, 1917, a son of the late Roy and Lena Drum Lander. On Nov. 23, 1939, he married Catherine Isaman Lander, who survives.
Harold had worked on the Lander Farm in the Town of Dansville all his life until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the South Dansville United Methodist Church, South Dansville Volunteer Fire Department, Wayland Grange, Steuben County Farm Bureau and Allegany-Steuben County Agriculture and Soil Conservation Agency. His best years were spent with his dear wife Catherine, his family and on the farm.
Surviving in addition to his dear wife of 65 years, Catherine, are three sons: Gerald Lander of St. Petersburg, Fla., Stanley (Sandra) Lander of South Dansville and Gary Lander, also of South Dansville; grandchildren Stephanie (Rick) Joseph and Stephen, Christina and Laura Lander; great-grandchildren Sarah and Rachel Joseph; brother-in-law Paul Isaman of Wayland; sister-in-law Beatrice (Don) Saxton of Cohocton; three nieces; and several cousins.
Friends called Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service was held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the South Dansville United Methodist Church. Interment was in Rogersville Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville.
