- DANSVILLE - Alice L. Hamsher, 99, passed away Sunday afternoon (Jan.
29, 2006) at the King's Daughters and Sons' Home in Dansville, where
she had been a resident for several years.
She was born in Waverly on Oct. 25, 1906, a daughter of the late
William and Maddie DeLong Hower. She was the widow of Raymond Hamsher,
who predeceased her in 1970. She also was predeceased by two sisters,
Mildred Black and Lena Rice.
Alice was employed at the former Blum Shoe Factory in Dansville. She
was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, a member of the
Women of the IOOF of Dansville, and had participated in the Foster
Grandparents Program in Dansville.
She is survived by her nephew, Paul F. (Anne) Black of Dansville; and
nieces, Sister Camille Marie of Maryknoll, Virginia (Francis) Treat of
Elmira and Betty (Cliff) Bixby of Andover; and several great and
great-great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Hindle
Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be
held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in
Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
