      Bapt. 17 May 1704 Dutch reformed Church Brooklyn N. Y. (N. Y. G + B . 15-115). Md. Anna Sutton who was baptized 20 May 1706 "Monette First Settler of Piscataway and Woodbridge" Not long after Abraham Hendricke Sleght's untimely death, his widow apparently moved to Somerset county N.J. it would appear, there for that Hendrick spent his early years in the area of Somerset N. J. Later he established residence farther north in Roxbury township, Morris co., N.J. in 1750, when he was about 46 years of age. He bought 625 acreas of land at Newton Sussex County N. J. This deed was dated 21 June 1750. this land was on "Merconetunk" river (Sussex county deeds E-443). Ttwenty Fives years later he conveyed 170 acreas to his son Job. This was done on Oct 6 1775. The year before 17 Sept 1774 he conveyed a tract of land lying on Hardiston, Sussex County. to his Son Richard. In 1778, apparently the year of his death, he named four sons heirs to receive about 450 acreas of land in Sussex County. They were Richard Slaght and James Slaght of hardysten, Job Slaght of New town (Newton) and Phillip Slaght of Roxbury. Why his other children were not mentioned is not known. has been incorrectly said to be of German heritage

      Slaght, Hendrick (1704-1787) moved from Brooklyn, New York to New Jersey and married Hannah Sutton. They lived in Somerville then Roxbury County, New Jersey then latterly at Newton, Sussex County, NJ. Three of their sons moved to Upper Canada: Richard (1728) to Townsend Township by 1801 then Oakland Township, Brant County; James (c.1735-1799) to Stamford Township, Lincoln County; and Job (1745-1807) and his wife Elizabeth Johnson to Townsend Township in 1796. A grandson John Slaght (1763) and his wife Mary settled in Townsend Township by 1802.
