  Notes	1870 living in Springwater with his wife Lydia(ae.21), also his brother Orlando Merriman, ae. 14, is in the same household. Last week Thursday evening, E. Merriman, 88, well known resident of Sparta, passed away at his home, following an illness of about a week's duration. Mr. Merriman was a civil war veteran and had made his home in Sparta for many years. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Fenno Barrett of Leicester and Mrs. Frank Hamsher of Wayland, and one son, Lester Merriman of Sparta. (Mt. Morris Enterprise, Aug. 5, 1931)
