- DANSVILLE - Charles H. Culbertson, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday
(July 13, 2004) at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility in
Geneseo.
Charles was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Dansville, a son of Fred and Mary
(Oliver) Culbertson. He was the husband of Viola Culbertson; she
predeceased him on May 18, 2002. Charles owned and operated the Fred
Culbertson Dairy Farm until he retired in 1979. In addition to his
wife, Charles was also predeceased by three brothers, Oliver
Culbertson, Clarence Culbertson and Howard Culbertson; a
granddaughter, Joan Culbertson; and a son-in-law, Richard Shutt.
Charles was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, serving as
an elder and participating on many committees. He was also a member of
the Phoenix Masonic Lodge F & AM #115, a Royal Arch Mason of
Dansville, the Dansville Grange, the Court of Amaranth and the Deborah
Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. He enjoyed gardening, but most of all
he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Faye) Culbertson of Arkansas,
Harold "Cubby" (Judy) Culbertson and Irene Shutt, all of Dansville;
and Margaret (Leonard) Bourgoine of Wayland; 12 grandchildren, 24
great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ada Rumsey of Bath, Alvira
Lockwood of Castile and Lois Munger of Florida; brother-in-law, Edward
(Arline) Lockwood of Geneseo; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the Chamberlin-Baird
Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville, where a Masonic service and an
Amaranth service will be held starting at 6:15 p.m. Funeral services
will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, at the Dansville Presbyterian
Church. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
