- Betty told me her mother (after she left Elroy?) brought her to the family homestead in the winter. No one was there and she started a fire to keep them warm. Mother died in the flue epidemic. Betty was raised by her grandparents, Myron and Elizabeth. Never told anyone she was pregnant with Michael. He was a late in life baby. She was always heavy so no one suspected. Didn't go to a doctor. Then one day there he was.
